I’Jala Wilson-Retriegue is a dynamic hairstylist, entrepreneur, and community leader with a passion for natural beauty and empowerment. After retiring from a distinguished career with the NYPD, I’Jala pursued her calling in cosmetology and, within just two years of earning her license, opened Get Flawless By IJala Hair and Beauty—an award-winning salon that opened its doors just one month before the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2019, she was honored as Hudson Valley’s Hair Braider of the Year, and by 2020, she expanded her brand by launching a line of all-natural hair and body products. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, her product line quickly gained popularity and, within two months, secured a partnership with Nature’s Pantry, a leading organic supermarket, to distribute her handcrafted butters, oils, and soaps.
I’Jala’s influence extends beyond the salon. She’s been featured in several publications and celebrated for her leadership, innovation, and impact in the Middletown community. Her salon has become a trusted haven for clients seeking education, healing, and self-love through the care of their natural hair.
At the heart of I’Jala’s mission is a desire to help people embrace the beauty God has given them. She educates her clients on proper hair care, uplifts them with encouragement, and ensures that every individual who sits in her chair leaves feeling confident, informed, and flawless—inside and out.
